CONSTRUCTION  AND WORKING OF ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKES

The electronic parking brake technology currently used in automobiles is mainly a caliper integrated electronic parking brake system, which replaces the traditional parking brake handle, mechanical lever and cable with electronic buttons, motors and control unit components. Controls. When parking, when the driver operates the electronic parking brake system button, the electronic control unit controls the motor integrated in the left and right brake calipers, and drives the brake caliper piston to generate mechanical clamping force to complete the parking.

HOW TO USE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE

At present, there are two types of electronic handbrake switches on the market, one is the ordinary button type, press once, the electronic handbrake is turned on, and then pressed again to close; the other is the button button, similar to the window lift switch, Turn up the handbrake function and press down to close.

When we want to park, just step on the brake pedal to make the vehicle stand still, then hang the gear in the P position, and finally press the function button of the electronic handbrake, it will be fine; when we want to restart, the gear will be Hang D (forward gear), after stepping on the throttle, you can brake to release the electronic handbrake, or directly press the brake pedal, press the key of the electronic handbrake to release; the car will not take effect when pulling the electronic handbrake at high speed. The function of the electronic handbrake will only be effective when the speed is near stop (generally 10KM/h).

The AUTO HOLD function is an extension of the Body Stability Control (ESP), which controls the four-wheel brakes via ESP. After the vehicle with automatic parking function is stopped, the system will judge that braking is needed at this moment, and the vehicle computer sends a signal to command the braking system to apply appropriate braking force to the vehicle, so that the vehicle is in a braking state. The switch of the automatic parking function is set beside the electronic handbrake, the marked button is directly “AUTO HOLD”, and some models are marked with a pair of semi-circles sandwiching the “A” inside the circle, although the style is different, but the button is realized. The functions are the same. However, there are some exceptions, such as the opening of the automatic parking function of Mercedes-Benz, which is not controlled by physical buttons, but by deep brakes (more than two-thirds of the brake stroke).

When we want to make a temporary stop, press the automatic parking function button and press the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. At this time, it is not necessary to always brake the brakes or use the handbrake;

When we want to release the automatic brake parking function, just press the accelerator pedal, the automatic transmission model does not use the frequent D to N, D to P to switch back and forth; In fact, when the seat belt buckle is pulled out or the door is opened, the automatic parking function will be disabled or released.
