How to scan a car and what does the scanner tells you after the diagnostic test?
To scan the car, there is a 16 pin connector also called OBD II socket under the steering wheel. The scanner has a 16 pin connector which will be connected to the socket and then depending on the connection options like wireless or wired connection. The connector will be linked with the scanner and then using the software inside the scanner will read the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the memory of ECM (Electronic Control Module) of the car. Whenever there is problem in a car, the problem is detected by the dedicated system provided for that particular system.
After the detection of the trouble the ECM generates a DTC code and stores it in its memory and that code remains in the system until and unless it is removed or deleted using any scanner.
Decoding wiring diagram in automobiles
Wiring / circuit diagrams are much similar to maps. Roads in a road map lead the user to some predefined destinations. Same is the case for wiring diagram; Wiring/circuit diagram leads the reader to identify the power source, Loads on the circuit and all the intermediate active/passive components provided to control the loads.
